Andrew Kay on hitting the right spot with Bella Napoli

026_LS3561_food_4.jpgIt doesn’t take a genius to spot that I am not very athletic. In fact I have an almost pathological hatred of sport. At school I would hide or invent charitable projects to avoid playing games. On the few occasions that I did get into kit, then it would be more likely that I could be found doing Four Tops routines by the goal posts than kicking the ball.

However, last year, I discovered cricket. Alex Mackay introduced me to it. I accepted his invitation and within an hour Alex found me glued to the play and working out batting averages – hooked!

» Dani’s diary

Dani asks if she’s destined for a life of mediocrity as she feels the grinding halt of a life not lived

» Mark Hyndman of Brighton Bandits

Mark Hyndman plays for Brighton Bandits FC. Paul Disney caught up with him to discover some home truths about gay and straight men and football clubs

Mark Hyndman

Describe yourself
MH: I am a very committed person from a relationship, sport and business environment perspective. I have a vocation that demands the best of me, and certainly takes up most of my time during the week, so at weekends and particular evenings, that is my time, and I certainly take advantage of it.

Explain what the Brighton Bandits is all about
MH: The Bandits were formed to allow those who wanted to play football, who perhaps felt intimidated by the volatile, and to a degree, the homophobic world of football, the opportunity to play, have a kick about, and meet like minded people. We encourage people of all ages, and abilities to come and play with us.

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
