» Kris Kristofferson interview

045_LS365_music_news_jeff_2.jpgIn 1965, inspired by country music legends Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. Legend has it that Kristofferson landed a helicopter in Johnny Cash’s backyard and presented him with a song he had written.

By the early 1970s Kristofferson had achieved global success as a leading country songwriter, penning such all-time classics such as ‘Me and Bobby McGee’, ‘Help Me Make It Though The Night’, ‘Sunday Morning Comedown’ and ‘For The Good Times’.

His striking good looks and success as a songwriter caught the attention of Hollywood, and with A Star Is Born he became a superstar. He also starred in critically acclaimed films such as Martin Scorcese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Sam Peckinpah’s Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.

» Amber Heard interview

We take time out to talk to Amber Heard about her role in Never Back Down

039_LS365_filmintro_1.jpgWhy should we go and see Never Back Down?
Well, it’s a sneak peak into a world that we’re ordinarily not invited into. It exists in an underground high school of fighters who want to release all that teen angst and aggression towards the society that bred them. They just come together and form these fight clubs. Sean Farris plays the lead character, Jake, who’s uprooted from his Middle American upbringing and thrown into this fast-paced society. It’s sexy, entertaining and exciting as he goes on this journey to find himself. He needs me. We fall in love. And I have a similar journey, but in a different direction. We just grow off one another and become different people in the end. It’s like Fast and the Furious meets The Karate Kid.

» Badger clothing

Badger Clothing have little to do with woodland creatures, but fortunately they do offer a great line in fashionable clothes for men and women

In the women’s store a big effort has been made to offer a great selection of denim to suit all purses, from heritage brand Lee, through the highly distinctive and current bestseller, GStar, to organic fairtrade jeans by Kuyichi and Del Forte, both exclusive to Badger.

» Sandra goes shopping

Sandra Omo tries to finish shopping before a competition in Nigeria

027_LS365_1.jpgThe past three days have been hectic for me; so hectic that I am beginning to feel not only my body aching but my mind as well. I’ve got this long list of ‘things to do’ and I know that there is no way I will be able to do them all. I have been to Oxford Street eight times in the past three days as I realised I need to pack a whole suitcase with summer clothes only, and believe me, I have none at the moment. Hence the reason I am frequenting Oxford Street. My ATM balance is almost hitting overdraft and I am only halfway through my shopping. Nonetheless, I am excited as I am looking forward to two weeks of holiday (I am allowed to call it that if I do not think about the competition part of the trip right now) in Nigeria – great food and weather with all expenses paid!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
