» Andy Feest interview
Whether he’s winning Brighton’s Golden Handbag Award for Best Cabaret Bar or coming runner up in the Best Landlord/Manager, Queen’s Arms proprietor Andy Feest is a busy man with a mission to entertain.
You’ve been running the Queen’s Arms for 16 years, what brought you to Brighton and Hove?
I had some friends who lived in Brighton and I used to come to town for nights out. I just fell in love with the place and decided to move here.
Where are you from originally?
I was born and raised in Worthing, so not too far.
Describe yourself in three words.
Outgoing, fun and generous.
Tell us something about yourself no-one knows?
When I was four-years-old I had the middle finger of my right hand cut off by a lawn mower! My dad was pulling the mower back up the garden path and I decided to put my hand a little too close to the blades. The ambulance guys thought that my mum was the patient as she was so hysterical. The hospital managed to sew it back on but it still looks a little strange. Also at school my nickname was Bubbles as my hair was a very large perm – not dissimilar to Michael Jackson’s old do!
