Zara Baker looks at modern pregnancy and methods to make labour and post-birth easier on mum

Pregnancy

For first-time mums-to-be or a mother of three, pregnancy can cause plenty of stress, anxiety and fear. » Could it be magic?

Injured Alison Swann proves she’s not a stick in the mud at Beachdown festival

I wasn’t going to go, but at the last minute, it seemed rude not to. I’ve been trying to see the Magic Numbers for some time now.

The first was about three years ago down at the Concorde 2. My brother had brought my ex and I tickets, so we went along with him and ended up rowing because my ex declared it wasn’t fun to watch fat hairy people sing.

The Magic Numbers

“At the eleventh hour, having recovered enough to do a one-crutch wobble, I snagged a ticket. Finally, what could possibly go wrong?”

I was horrified and embarrassed as this comment was made rather publicly. “Where was the make-up artist? Was there one on the way, I mean who was going to do me up?”

So was it by connection then? I guess so. Nonetheless, it was a well paying job, and to begin my career like that, although I didn’t take it serious until five years later, really boosted my confidence.

» Dani’s Diary

Dani is proud of her sister and follows her into academia, and she is perplexed by our nation’s body-image confusion

Last week my sister wrote about her forthcoming exam results. Well, she got them and she did fantastically.

“In September I’ll be starting work towards a degree. I’m going to need extra hours in the day”

If I could I would personally stick two very big fingers up at all those prats who keep claiming that the reason people are passing is because the exams are getting easier. Have these people actually sat the exams and done the course work? I doubt it. Each year they say the same thing. How about a congratulations every now and then?

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
