» Preview: Conan the Barbarian 3D

Director: Marcus Nispel

Fan-blimmin-tastic! It’s taken long enough but finally we have a remake of the swords and sandals ridiculousness that made Arnold Schwarzenegger a household name back in the ’80s.

Starring Jason Momoa in the title role, he cuts quite a figure baring his chest at wrong-doers, as this massive 3D action epic sees Conan turning a personal vendetta into a mythical battle against massive monsters, humungous rivals and all manner of obstacles to reach his goal and save the nations of Hyboria from a supernatural evil. This is really what it’s all about.

Jason Momoa will already be familiar to fans of the fantasy and sci fi genres having recently been seen as the barbarian leader Khal Drogo in the critically acclaimed Game Of Thrones TV series, and as Ronon Dex in Stargate:Atlantis.

Joining him on this epic 3D big screen quest are Ron Perlman and Rose McGowan, as well as Rachel Nichols and Stephen Lang. Bring your own plastic sword to the cinema.

Released 26 August
Showing at Odeon and Cineworld

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
