Martlets Hospice to benefit from evening of poptastic Abba Gold

Abba Gold

It’s 34 years since Abba blazed to glory on the stage of the Brighton Dome in the Eurovision Song Contest, but their popularity lives on in the hearts of thousands of fans worldwide. Unlike most winners though, Abba proved to be the exception to the ‘one hit wonder’ rule that usually applies and went on to carve out an amazing career as pop performers and songwriters of excellence. And even though they have not performed together for many years, the legend lives on in recording and also with tribute bands.

Top Abba tribute act Abba Gold have just returned from another sellout European tour and have agreed to perform three charity shows at the Theatre Royal, Brighton. Tickets are bound to be in great demand as Abba Gold are one of the leading Abba tribute bands in the UK.

Singing live on stage with Abba Gold will be some of the younger members of Brighton Theatre Group who recently staged Oliver! at the Theatre Royal to critical acclaim and sold out every performance.

So why not join them and Abba Gold and sing and dance the night away to all the big Abba hits, including ‘Money, Money, Money’, ‘Waterloo’, ‘Dancing Queen’ and lots more!

You could even get a group together and have a fantastic evening, as group discounts are available. At the same time you will be helping to raise funds for The Martlets Hospice here in Brighton and Hove.

Abba Gold, Theatre Royal, New Road, Brighton, 22 and 23 Aug.

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk

» Artists Open Houses

AOH Special: It’s Festival time in Brighton & Hove, which means the Artists Open Houses have opened their doors for another year! Maps of all the trails can be picked up across the city. We love nothing better than browsing and buying arts and crafts, and there is so much going on throughout May that we’ve made it easier by bringing the Artists Open Houses to you! We have 11 special programmes, featuring artists in their own houses. So here’s your chance to go ‘through the keyhole’ so to speak as we visit the artists in their own environment.
