European Fields

At the beginning of the 1995 football season, Hans van der Meer set out to take a series of football photographs that avoided the clichéd traditions of modern sports photography. Taking in matches at the bottom end of the amateur leagues to the heights of the Champions’ League, he strove to find the original passion and humanity of the beautiful game.
European Fields, Crane Kalman, 38 Kensington Gardens, 01273 697096. Until 11 July

Touching Art Touching You

Breaking traditional barriers by encouraging visitors to experience and explore the art on display through touch and other senses, this exhibition challenges the notion that sight is essential for creating and enjoying art.
Touching Art Touching You, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, Pavilion Gardens, 01273 290900. 12 June–5 September

Mike Hoban & Jonathan Smith

Photographer Mike Hoban is showing his collection of Venice polaroids, first shown at Chelsea Arts Club last year, alongside some portraits of visual artists that include Sir Peter Blake and David Hockney. Jonathan Smith will be exhibiting his latest collection of luminous landscape paintings and Hebridean beaches.
Mike Hoban & Jonathan Smith, Pelham House, Lewes, 01273 488600. 10 June–24 August

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
