The Moving Image
19th century photographer Eadweard Muybridge was the first to develop photographic sequences of moving objects. Designed with children in mind, this exhibition shows how movement and time is captured in art and photography – even in a static image. Using Muybridge’s studies alongside selected works from the museum’s Fine Art Collection.

Emiko Aida and Sarah Cox
Local ceramist Sarah Cox, together with her whimsical birds and animals, joins Japanese-born painter and printmaker, Emiko Aida, in this exhibition. Hastings Weekend Gallery has recently been authorised to offer interest-free loans to buy artwork so now visitors can take a masterpiece home.

The Dark Monarch
Enter a dark fairytale of shadowy landscapes, mysterious figures, the secret and the supernatural in this fantastic exhibtion. Taking its title from the infamous book by Sven Berlin, The Dark Monarch explores how folklore, mysticism, mythology and the occult have all infleunced British art over the last 100 years. Includes work by Damien Hirst, Barbara Hepworth and Graham Sutherland.

Richard Grayson
