Wild fruit goes bananas over missing fruit

Two giant bananas sparked a massive search operation when they went missing from a Brighton nightclub.

Cuddles and Lulu – icons of Wild Fruit, the gay institution at Tru in West Street, disappeared following the Pride finale party. DJs Kate Wildblood and Queen Josephine were eating breakfast at Buddies at 7am when they spotted the bananas speeding along the seafront.

The pair managed to photograph the fruits in the arms of two unidentified guys, who looked pleased with themselves.

The next day Kate and Queen Jo emailed their pictures to Wild Fruit organisers Aeon events The word went out that Cuddles and Lulu were missing and within hours Kate had set up a Facebook page which acquired 66 members. There were messages on realbrighton.com with sightings in the Queens Park area.

Sean Chapman, from Wild Fruit, said: “We felt very upset as our bananas had become regular features at our Wild Fruit parties and are personalities in their own right, they were made by designer Jez Eaton and cost us a pretty penny.”
