Compere Jason Byrne spontaneously worked the crowd, paving the way for the first act.
Zoe Lyons managed to keep the laughter flowing with insightful observations on polite British road rage and slapping vegans with raw steak.
Next up, for me, was the highlight of the evening. Canadian Phil Nichol was a comedic treat. His frenzied performance infected the audience with his frantic observational send ups and camp lampooning of anything not nailed down.
Milton Jones, however, was like somebody just reading a joke book really, really slowly.
Disappointment continued with headliner Rufus Hound. An underlying bitterness prevailed with Hound and he didn’t seem to find his jokes funny so Lord knows why we would.
