On Monday 4 October, the winners will receive their trophies at a presentation ceremony sponsored by the new environmentally-friendly, socially responsible coffee brand ‘ecoffee’ at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.

After an afternoon of fine theatrics at Chichester Festival Theatre, and with the promise of more to come in the evening, Mrs E and I were in need of sustenance and comfort. We had previously dined well in the theatre’s own restaurants but rather fancied a change. With this in mind I contacted my old friend Mr P. Mr P is a theatre legend having been involved on both sides of the curtain for more years than I care to mention. With no hesitation he made his recommendation: Comme Ca. “When in Chichester that is where I always dine between shows and they have never let me down,” he said. Well, trusting Mr P as I do, I went online and made a booking.

It was a beautiful summer’s evening as we drove into Hurstpierpoint, the evening sun catching the screaming police cars and helicopters that had us thinking we had driven onto the set of Midsomer Murders. There had been an incident and the boys in blue were clearly taking it very seriously. But at The New Inn all was calm and collected. We asked what was going on but no-one seemed to know, and they were certainly not going to let it ruin the evening.

Apart from the occasional flutter on the Grand National I am not a gambling man. Oh yes, and the odd day at Brighton Racecourse. Come to think of it, I have been to Goodwood too, and the Derby at Epsom, and I love a good night out at the dogs from time to time. But apart from that I am not a gambling man.

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
