» Health: Shine Hair & Beauty

This month, Melanie from Shine Hair & Beauty answers your hair care questions, and Lydia has the lowdown on the benefits of an Aveda facial

I’ve started to notice a few grey hairs so I would like to colour my hair, but I’m worried it won’t look natural and that it might leave my hair in poor condition.

Melanie: At Shine we only use Aveda colour, which is up to 99 per cent plant derived. It’s a very safe colour system that creates a multi-dimensional look and a naturally shiny effect. Our stylists would recommend a colour that would best suit your skin tone and eye colour; either a cool or a warm shade to complement your complexion. They will also advise you on how to maintain your new hue to ensure long-lasting colour and healthy hair.

Zara Baker looks at ways to bronze up this summer – both in the sun and by the bottle

Korres face/body walnut & coconut suntan oil spf10 £12 Stockists: 0870 850 3868
Vegetable based, this gorgeous new oil prevents the skin from premature ageing. Coconut oil keeps skin soft and supple, while the walnut oil helps regenrate and tone dry skin. It smells amazing, too, with the walnut adding a musky hint. The texture is light and non-greasy so it’s easily absorbed and doesn’t sit on the skin like most oils. A must-have product for facing the summer sun.

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk

» Artists Open Houses

AOH Special: It’s Festival time in Brighton & Hove, which means the Artists Open Houses have opened their doors for another year! Maps of all the trails can be picked up across the city. We love nothing better than browsing and buying arts and crafts, and there is so much going on throughout May that we’ve made it easier by bringing the Artists Open Houses to you! We have 11 special programmes, featuring artists in their own houses. So here’s your chance to go ‘through the keyhole’ so to speak as we visit the artists in their own environment.
