The city welcomed the first Allsorts Charity Ball last Thursday. The event, held in the Thistle Hotel, may have been new but the charity – a Brighton-based project to support young people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or unsure of their sexuality – has been running for over 15 years. The theme was black and silver and the outfits worn by the glitterati of Brighton and Hove didn’t disappoint.

The stars turned out at London’s Sadlers Wells last Tuesday for Brighton-based West End and Broadway choreographer Stephen Mears’ new show, Shoes, a collaboration with Richard Thomas of Jerry Springer The Opera fame.
Enjoying a glass of champagne with Stephen in the interval were Julie Walters and Paul O’Grady. Posing on the red carpet for the cameras to snap her stunning Union Jack platform shoes was actor and comedian Tamsin Greig.
Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
