Lewes opens its doors for the annual Artwave Open House Festival

Sue BarnesArtwave, the Lewes district’s annual Open House Festival, looks set to sizzle with exciting, engaging and exceptional pieces of art. Running from Saturday 28 August until Sunday 12 September, Artwave promotes local art and creativity by encouraging experts and novices to open their homes and studios, showcasing their work and introducing visitors to the wealth of skill and talent on their doorstep.

Latest 7 will be running a competition inviting visitors to vote for their favourite Artwave Open House of 2010. Voting forms are printed in the Artwave brochure, available from Open House venues, the Lewes and Seaford Tourist Information Centres and are distributed across the Lewes district.

During the month of August, members of Brighton’s Fiveways Artists Group (www.fivewaysartists.com) will hold an exhibiton at the Chateau de Bosmelet, near Dieppe in Normandy, exhibiting in both the Chateau and its stunning gardens. This unique event will be the beginning of a partnership expanding the artistic ties between France and England. To celebrate, we’re giving away a weekend stay in a gite in the fab grounds of the Chateau for up to four people. The prize includes travel with LD Lines, in the first weekend of December, to coincide with the chateau’s Christmas fair, Reveries de Noel.
