Zara Friend finds a great competition for kids at Komedia with family season tickets up for grabs
Long Nose Puppets return to Komedia in December with their brand new kids show ‘Flyaway Katie.’ Long Nose Puppets are the company responsible for the successful ‘Shoe Baby,’ which was voted Best Children’s Show at the Latest Festival Awards back in May.
For their Christmas show, ‘Flyaway Katie,’ Komedia are planning a creative art competition for kids to coincide with the performance. It is the only show on in Komedia’s Studio Bar over Christmas, so the space can be transformed into a proper themed grotto. All the competition entries will be on display with the winning entry becoming a permanent fixture at Komedia.
Polly Dunbar, the author and illustrator of the book, has agreed to draw a brand new bird and it’s the children’s job to give it some colour, be it using paint, collage or feathers! The winner will receive a family ticket (two adults and two children) to every single show in the Spring Kids@Komedia 2008 season (around 10 shows).
Komedia are also looking into getting the winner’s entry blown up to a big size, mounted on wood, and having it become a permanent resident of the Studio Bar all year round!
The show ‘Flyaway Katie’ is all about Katie who is stuck in a grey world and longs to be bright and colourful like the birds in a painting that hangs on her wall. She covers herself in the most colourful things she can find, and suddenly finds herself in the picture. The stories then follows her adventures with the birds in this bright new world.
