» Cover Feature: Sean Paul Hair And Beauty

Exclusive nail art by Zoltan and the all-new Brazilian blow dry create the complete party package at
Sean Paul Hair And Beauty

Passers by may do a double take outside Sean Paul Hair And Beauty. Has the Grammy award-winning artist changed profession? Okay, this is not the case, but Sean Lambe and Paul Lambert have your full attention now.

Attracting the public eye was always going to be easy, though, as the popular salon is located at the foot of the ever busy St James’s Street. What draws people through their doors is the sheer amount of services offered. From the outside, the barber-style space on the ground floor is visible. Once inside this Tardis-like building, there is plenty more to be found. Venture up one flight of stairs and you are in the ladies salon with an adjacent waiting room.

» Fashion: Frock Me! Vintage Fashion Fair

Go Vintage: Keep it stylish this winter with inspiration from the Frock Me! Vintage Fashion Fair

Summer is well and truly over meaning it’s time to wrap up warm before you venture outside. But adding extra layers and wearing hats and gloves doesn’t have to be depressing, especially if you do it in style with a vintage twist! Take inspiration from Frock Me!, who know it’s so easy to look stunning and right up to date by wearing a little Victorian velvet or beaded cape, a darling little French cloche hat, or an Edwardian petticoat with a pretty little fringe…

You will find inspired ideas for winter and beyond at The Frock Me! Vintage Fashion Fair, which returns to The Corn Exchange on Sunday 24 October. Over 60 dealers will be selling hundreds of affordable outfits as well as gothic lace gloves and crisp cotton camisoles. One new exhibitor is coming all the way from Preston, Lancashire, with her entire stock from a costume hire and fancy dress business she has run for over 30 years. She promises to be able to kit out anyone who wants a genuine vintage outfit to wear for Halloween the following Sunday.

Frock Me! Vintage Fashion Fair, Sunday 24 October, Corn Exchange, Brighton Dome, Church Street, Brighton, BN1 1UE, 11am–5pm, £4/£2 students with ID/accompanied under 16s free, 020 7254 4054, www.frockmevintagefashion.com

» Cover Feature: Tramp Vintage Clothing

All the ladies (and generous gents) will love new vintage boutique Tramp

Tramp

Stunning dresses line the rails and portraits of famous ‘tramps’ such as Elizabeth Taylor and Marlene Dietrich gaze down in approval from oyster pink walls – welcome to Tramp, Brighton’s new vintage clothing boutique.

Now, you may be wondering why our city needs another vintage shop, but Tramp is a little different. While most vintage stores are so crammed with bulk-ordered items your grandma threw out last year (yes, there are warehouses you can order, say, 50 ‘vintage’ leggings from), Tramp is pleasingly uncluttered. It’s easy to sift through the rails, and you don’t have to waste hours rummaging in bargain barrels.
Each piece is carefully hand-picked and sourced by owner Michelle Terras and manager Francesca Pendlebury, then attentively cleaned and altered to bring it in line with current trends without losing that vintage appeal.

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk

We love nothing better than browsing and buying arts and crafts, and there is so much going on throughout May that we’ve made it easier by bringing the Artists Open Houses to you! We have 11 special programmes, featuring artists in their own houses. So here’s your chance to go ‘through the keyhole’ so to speak as we visit the artists in their own environment.
