» Review: Brighton Festival Fringe – Ghost Walk of the Lanes

Our tour guide, Julian, met us in the obligatory dressed attire of a black cape and top hat which helped set the scene for our ghost walk.

We were regaled with scary stories that took us back to Victorian times, with some interesting historical background information thrown in for good measure, as we moved on to the Steine from our meeting point and around the Lanes.

Julian kept us amused with his hammy sense of humour and the younger members of the entourage terrorised with his blood curdling tales and some very gory props that he produced from his bag.
Well worth doing for an insight into some of the spine chilling secrets of the Lanes and surrounding nearby areas of Brighton.

» Review: Brighton Festival Fringe – Harold Pinter Shorts

Before all the things that made you feel right at their wrongness and then subverted by your tacit agreement – there was Harold Pinter. This collection of Pinter Shorts from a very talented ensemble cast and production demonstrated just how powerful, funny, black and captivating the late playwright could be when performed with the right balance of subtltey and brute force. Combining the familiar Pinter recipe of sexuality with violence and power play, these shorts were funny and disturbing, attractive and repulsive, sinister and charismatic. Faultless and hynotising, the cast left their audience reeling as the lights rose. Fantastic.

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
