Chris Waitt talks to Latest 7 on his confessional film A Complete History of My Sexual Failures

How did you think this would work out as film project? I expected it to be really, pretty simple, that’s probably because I’m stupidly naïve in these things, just as I am in relationships as well.

» Kung Fu Panda

Cert: PG - Director: Mark Osborne and John Stevenson

This latest effort from super studio Dreamworks is a CG-animated comedy about a lazy, irreverent slacker panda called Po, who must become a kung fu master in order to save his furry friends from the villainous snow leopard, Tai Lung. What it lacks in detail it makes up for in humorous sight gags, gleeful abandon and Jackie Chan.

» Hancock

Cert: 12A - Director: Peter Berg

Since directing the hilariously cynical Very Bad Things in 1998, Berg has been making gruff machismo efforts like Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom. This time he’s a bit more tongue-in-cheek as Will Smith plays a hard-living superhero who enlists the help of Jason Bateman’s PR guru to help repair his damaged public image. A joyfully irreverent and original take on the superhero genre.

» Great Expectations / Madeleine

Cert: PG - Director: David Lean

The Duke of York’s continue their David Lean retrospective with this dramatic double bill. Great Expectations sees Lean tackle Charles Dickens in a highly atmospheric epic starring John Mills as the plucky orphan Pip and Jean Simmons as Estella. Madeleine, meanwhile, is based on the true story of Madeleine Smith, a young Glasgow woman who stood trial in 1857 for the murder of her lover. Both are tender efforts from a man who revelled in the darker reflections of human relations.
