Director: Joe Wright

Already creating a buzz and scooping up favourable reviews, Hanna is an exciting new film to come out when a lot of the studio heads are preparing for their summer blockbusters.
Saoirse Ronan (the child actor everyone raves about from Atonement and The Lovely Bones – and she was nominated for an Oscar too) stars as the 16-year-old Hanna of the title. Brought up and trained as one and the same by her ex-CIA father (Eric Bana), Hanna has become the perfect assassin with advanced self-defence skills, as well as being an expert in stealth and hunting.
Trained in isolation in Finland, she is sent out into the world by her dearest Pa on her first mission, whereupon she is captured by agents and detained for observation beneath the Moroccan desert. Chief agent and morally destitute, it might seem, is Marissa (Cate Blanchett).
When Hanna escapes the agents are hot on her trail with a ruthless determination governed by Marissa. Across Europe they run, with Hanna learning more about herself in a series of disturbing revelations about her own existence and her own humanity. Pretty nifty stuff, and with this cast and pre-release excitement well worth a viewing.
Released 6 May, Showing at Odeon and Cineworld
