Holding back the years

The anti-ageing product market is vast and various, and this month we’ve been on the hunt for the best new products. First up, we love the anti-ageing facial oil from organic pioneers, Green People. Omega 3 and 6, pure essential oils and vitamins nourish the skin and improve its elasticity. It has a wonderful floral scent from Rosemary, Rose Geranium, Sunflower and Safflower. You only need a few drops, mind, so that your skin isn’t drenched in the oil. Use nightly and skin appears plumper and healthy. £16, www.greenpeople.co.uk

A different way of turning back the clock now, with the new supplement Memory Lane, from Power Health. The supplement contains Phosphatidylserine, a naturally occurring nutrient found in the brain. Mental performance, recognition, concentration and attention span is improved in three weeks. £17.99, www.powerhealth.co.uk

Team Green Britain Bike Week

Team Green Britain Bike Week takes place from 19–27 June with towns, cities and villages across the UK taking part with a host of free cycling events all week long. Promoting the idea that two wheels are better than four, Bike Week lets you bid for a celeb-designed bike (Lord Alan Sugar’s being one of those up for grabs) or bring along an old bike to be reconditioned at a Team Green Britain Bike Week event. Never has getting fit been so fun!

Family yurt camp opens

After three years of hold-ups, a Brighton family will finally open their Yurt camp on 29 June. The long-awaited Ecovallé Yurt Camp near Bergerac in France is a family-friendly site featuring 12.5 acres, with facilities including an 18-foot yurt sleeping up to four, a 12-foot yurt for use as a playroom, an outdoor kitchen/ dining area with gas BBQ, a compost toilet and use of the bathroom with flushing toilet and washer/dryer. Ecovellée is the realised dream of Kemp Town writer Alex Crowe, and his textile-artist partner, Clare. “What we offer is a very green holiday, on a self-sufficient-ish smallholding,” Alex says. And at just €350 a week for a family of four, it’s an affordable price tag for your summer getaway.
