» Wave: It’s Not You…

Each month, dating coach Tammy James answers your relationship questions

My boyfriend and I have been dating for two years and have a house together. I’m keen to start a family but he says he’s not ready. What should I do?

Sadly, us women have to make our minds up about having children before nature decides we can’t. For men, they can take their time. Think back to when you got together and what your boyfriend’s view on children was then. If he was clear he wanted children then he could genuinely need more time. Lots of men don’t like to think of having kids until they feel they are in a stable relationship and can financially support their child. If your boyfriend has been pretty evasive about the subject of children from the start it’s unlikely you’ll be able to change him and giving him more time will make no difference. It’s time for a frank discussion with him: what does he want and when? If he can’t say, then you need to think about how important this is to you.

» Health: Happy Feet

Don’t be afraid to put your feet on show – it’s time to put your best foot forward

Both Podiatry and Chiropody specialise in treatment of the feet. There is sometimes confusion between the two terms, but they mean the same thing. Chiropody is an older, more traditionally used term in the UK. Chiropodists and podiatrists diagnose and treat abnormalities with the feet. You would see a podiatrist if you experience pain or infection in the foot: discomfort in your heels, discoloured toenails, ingrown toenails, pain in your lower limbs or swelling of the joints… these can all be treated. And with our feet on show this summer – whether you’re on the beach or in the city centre, it’s time to get your feet in tip-top condition.

» Health: balancing act – children’s nutrition

Good nutrition and healthy, happy children begins with the right approach to food

From babies and childhood through to the teenage years, good nutrition is vital. Statistics published by the NHS (Feb 2011) showed a dramatic increase in childhood obesity from 1995 to 2004. From 2004, there is evidence of decline, but with fast food readily available and a less active lifestyle among children the norm, obesity is still a problem.

A recent nationwide sizing survey shows Britain’s youngsters are significantly heavier and wider on average than their parents were as children. The research, carried out by Select Research using 3D body scanners, found today’s 11 year olds are not only taller than children in the previous generation, but wider and heavier too. Girls’ average waist size has increased by 8.3cm to 70.2cm, while boys’ waists are 7cm bigger, measuring on average 70cm.

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
