» L7 Interview: John Barrowman

Jack the Lad: John Barrowman talks to Andrew Kay about Desperate Housewives, West End theatre, tabloid sensationalism and his Captain Jack doll

Are you looking forward to the tour?
Yeah, highlighting the new album and lots of other songs, some from Tonight’s The Night. We usually do a montage of things. People want to come in and feel like they’ve had a really good night of song and dance and stories, a good entertainment show.

Still wearing those shades, 71 year-old Ian Hunter. Young dude Jeff Hemmings reports

I never realised how old Mott The Hoople’s Ian Hunter was until I did a little research… He’s 71 for chrissakes! Born before the beginning of WWII! Still, judging by the plaudits given for the band’s 2009 reunion shows the man sounds in remarkably good shape, and he’s ready for another tour of the UK.

The Food of Love: Julia Roberts tells how she ate her way around India, Bali and Italy for Eat, Pray, Love, the new film of Elizabeth Gilbert’s best-selling memoir. Words: Emmanuel Itier

Two members of Keane are about to hit the road as quasi-country duo Mt DesolationJesse Quin explains all

Keane divide opinion like few other bands; their seemingly lightweight, radio-friendly piano-led pop is not to everyone’s taste, but you must be in serious denial if you cannot muster any praise for the rich melodies that permetate their work, and their instictive ability to craft quality songs in the ‘tradition’ of pop music.

And so to Mt Desolation, a duo made up of Keane’s principal songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley and bassist/guitarist Jessie Quin. Just another Keane?

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
