» News: Dive in for charity!

A Brighton cancer survivor is urging people to take the fundraising plunge for Cancer Research UK.

And to make his point, Richard Carter, 46, posed in his swimming costume with a rubber ring, snorkel and a huge inflatable shark on the beach near Brighton Marina.

He wants to highlight the various ways people can support ‘The Swim’, a unique relay team challenge which will see celebrities tackle a 56-mile swim across the Irish Sea. So far, the team includes Boyzone’s Ronan Keating, Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson, The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury, Olympic swimming medallist and cancer survivor Steve Parry and TV presenter Jenny Frost.

Brightonians can hold their own swimming related activity or sponsor the celebrities to help raise £1million for Cancer Research UK. Trials for a public place in ‘The Swim’ will be held in Brighton on 26 and 27 July.

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
