» News: Brighton College students celebrate Royal Wedding

In what was probably the second most anticipated event of the week, the Brighton College front quad was decked out in red, white and blue the day before the marriage of Prince William and Kate.

The event started with the college and prep schools gathering together for a traditional street party under union flags. The pupils were entertained while they ate their lunch by a swing band, Morris dancing and a stirring rendition of ‘Jerusalem’.

A new initiative aims to accentuate the positive for deaf and disabled people


Talented disabled and deaf individuals have been selected to showcase their work at Brighton Festival.

The 11 artists were chosen to represent some of the best quality of work being undertaken by disabled and deaf people in the south east by Up-Stream, a new major showcasing programme being run by the arts organisation Dada-South.

The first ever Shakedown Festival, set to take place on 9 July has been postponed until 17 September. Razorlight were unveiled as the headline act just a few weeks ago, and were set to join the likes of Mark Ronson on summer festival line-up.

It must be rated as one of the most bizarre ‘situations vacant’ adverts ever advertised: ‘Pickled Person Wanted’ is the title of a job vacancy currently being advertised in Brighton’s Job Centres.

Job Centre plus have placed the ad’s on behalf of The Circus Of Horrors who are looking for a new ‘Pickled Person’ to perform in their new production in Brighton Festival.

The lucky applicant needs to be flexible, not to suffer from claustrophobia and be able to squeeze into a tiny bottle 2′ tall & 18″ in diameter.

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton.
