» Seann’s world: Hanging on

Seann Walsh is trying to come to terms with the hangover from hell

Here I sit, occupied by a hangover so omnipotent and tyrannical that I can’t see, or, at least, not in the traditional sense of that rather basic word. I am aware that I’m typing. Of course I’m aware that I’m typing: the hitting of every key sounds like a miniature hand grenade. But I don’t know if I’m typing in the right order. I’m re-typing this bit from memory anyway, having got halfway through without actually turning the computer on.

» Seann’s World: CV? Honestly!

Seann Walsh decides honesty is the best policy and writes an ‘unembellished’ CV

About six months ago, I needed (but very much didn’t want) work, and had to produce a CV. The phrase ‘Write a CV’ can be paraphrased, quite accurately, as ‘Analyse your life, come to the conclusion that you’ve underachieved, and then try to pretend that you haven’t’.

It’s impossible not to judge yourself when remembering every academic failure, every unfinished task, every job you couldn’t bear for more than a fortnight. Writing a CV forces us into striving to remember what we’d rather forget.

» Seann’s World: Perchance to dream

Comedian Seann Walsh loves his sleep, so the real world really isn’t for him

I woke up at three in the afternoon today. I then underwent my daily waking ritual of going back to sleep for an hour. After that I was quite safely awake, and had probably drained away most of the sleep I had in me, but I thought it best to lie down for half an hour, just to be sure.

» Seann’s World: Crash and Burn

Seann Walsh is keeping away from the gym and is happy on his own treadmill

I’ve never been inside a gym. The inside of a gym, to me, is one of those things I have only seen in films or on television, like prison, New York or up Sharon Stone’s skirt.

Aspirational television and film depicts the gym matter-of-factly as a sort of retreat, full of mirrors and shiny floors, where young, anatomically perfect urban professionals go to replenish themselves and relinquish the terrible stress of having a well-paid job and a rich social life.

Latest TV

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
