Tasha Dhanraj is being driven round the bend

After weeks of begging, I finally agreed to go to Hobbycraft with my sister, Tasie. Believe it or not, spending a Sunday morning hurtling down the A23 with my boyfriend and I crammed into an unpleasantly hot little Ford KA with my sister at the wheel, telling us all about the dinosaur stickers she wants to buy is not my dream. What made this vignette even better was the fact that the petrol meter was dangerously into the red.

Tasha Dhanraj plans to extend her social circle

All my college and school friends have gone away to university. No longer can I walk through any supermarket in the Mid Sussex area on a Saturday afternoon and see one of my contemporaries sitting at the till. They’ve all left. They’ve gone to find new supermarkets to work at in their spare time in places like Manchester, Southampton and Lancashire. Meanwhile, I’m still shopping at these supermarkets. Ambling around to buy sweet potatoes and blackcurrant flavoured cider is far less exciting when you know you’re not going to see your best friend from Year 9 in a uniform appearing from one of the aisles to say hello.

Tasha Dhanraj follows her dream

Tasha Dhanraj is taking the healthy option

It is that time of year. The Edinburgh Festival has kicked off and like a moth drawn to a light bulb I am going back again. » Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk

» Artists Open Houses

AOH Special: It’s Festival time in Brighton & Hove, which means the Artists Open Houses have opened their doors for another year! Maps of all the trails can be picked up across the city. We love nothing better than browsing and buying arts and crafts, and there is so much going on throughout May that we’ve made it easier by bringing the Artists Open Houses to you! We have 11 special programmes, featuring artists in their own houses. So here’s your chance to go ‘through the keyhole’ so to speak as we visit the artists in their own environment.
