It goes without saying that Brighton is one of the most colourful and exciting cities by the sea but I sometimes long for some peace and quiet. To sit quietly, sipping the perfect G&T, sharing a romantic moment miles away from my computer, maybe even a little retail therapy without the crowds… 

A little bird has told me about the perfect place: stunning views, lots of pampering, posh boutiques in Richmond town centre only 10 minutes walk and G&Ts galore, beautifully made and elegantly served.

Always open to new experiences, we booked ourselves onto a wild foraging, cooking and feasting course (the latter element seeming much more inviting). Most people have read an Agatha Christie book or at least heard of the famous author, but there’s something rather special about visiting a private island and staying at the infamous Burgh Island Hotel in South Devon, where she was inspired to write two books (Evil Under The Sun, and And Then There Were None). All the rich and famous stayed there in the 1930s, Noel Coward and Mr and Mrs Simpson to name but a few.
