It was the ‘Perfect Night’ for Peter Andre at Fontwell Racecourse on 2 July as he performed under the summer sky. Julie Coates, of The Lanes Health and Beauty salon, was lucky enough to be there and hailed our local entertainer as “the ultimate showman.”

“This performance was in a different league for Pete,” she enthused. “I have seen him perform brilliantly before, but on Saturday he really was at the top of his game.” No doubt Pete will be keen to recreate the magic during his headline slot at Guilfest later this month.

Peter was joined by X-Factor boy band The Reason 4, and live pop act Paradise Point, whose bass player – Roman Kemp – is said to be a dead-ringer for his famous father Martin. But ultimately the night belonged to our Aussie-born heartthrob. Ending the show with his biggest hit, ‘Mysterious Girl’, Peter sang covers alongside his own work to ensure that the concert was a real crowd pleaser. “He really didn’t disappoint,” concluded Julie. Although a few fans have since expressed regret at the no-show of his famous six-pack; some people are never satisfied!

Farewell Kerry?
New Sussex resident Kerry Katona looks like she might be moving out of the country already! After signing up with powerhouse agent Clare Powell last year and turning her back on her old life up north, Kerry seemed to be doing really well keeping on the straight and narrow and enjoying the countryside around Horsham. Clare though runs a very tight ship and demanded that Kerry keep off the booze and drugs. Events have since transpired that Kerry has been unceremoniously dumped by CAN Associates, which is run by Powell, as she was pictured falling out of a nightclub and breaking the house rules of no alcohol and no drugs. The future now looks bleak for Kerry and it looks like she might head back to her roots back in her home town of Warrington. Friends close to the ex-Atomic Kitten say that she would like to be a comedy actress and is now going to pursue that avenue.

A Grand Affair
It was a great time for celeb spotting at Brighton’s Grand Hotel last week. Andrew Mosley, general manager of The Grand Hotel, is snapped here with two star visitors: Frank Bruno, who was out enjoying the sunshine, and Dame Vera Lynn, who stopped by for a spot of afternoon tea!

Pooch Pride
We saw some pooch Pride on Sunday 3 July as onwers gathered their dogs for the Pride Companion Dog Show at Hove Rugby Football Club. Judged by Brighton’s own Miss Jason, alongside pedigree judge Gary Gregory, prizes were awarded in a variety of categories from ‘Best Odd Couple’ to ‘Waggiest Tail’. The fancy dress entries in particular were ‘Out of This World’– in-keeping with the theme for 2011’s event. With Pride week starting on 4 August and culminating in the parade and park event on 13 August, news is being announced regularly about the upcoming celebration. Make sure to get your tickets in advance – they will go faster than you can say ‘fetch’ once our excitable canines sniff-out the celebrity headline acts!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
