Kerry Katona moves to Sussex mansion, Dean Lennox Kelly bags fab Beatles role and Gary Moore does a guest turn at the Old Market

Kerry’s clean break

Guess who I saw strolling round a beautifully sunny Brighton this week – the newly re-invented, newly single Kerry Katona. Looking very slim and tanned, the mother of four was spending some quality time and doing some furniture shopping with two of her daughters, Molly, eight, and seven-year-old Lilly-Sue.

The 29 year old is now a Sussex resident, having just moved into a lovely new countryside mansion. Let’s hope the move is a good one for her – it hasn’t gone down well with her less than chirpy ex-husband Mark Croft, who is reportedly unhappy with the four-hour drive he now faces when visiting their two children.

It’s been better news for Kerry’s other ex-husband, Brian McFadden. The ex-Westlife popster, who turned 30 last week, is currently topping the charts Down Under with his single ‘Just Say So’.

Stars turn out for Haiti fundraiser

Brighton’s Hope For Haiti fundraiser on 10 April attracted a star-studded crowd to the Old Market. Leafhound singer Peter French and Irish actor and Sleeping With The Enemy were in the audience for the event, which was organised by Sofie Cadwallader, hosted by Trudi Styles, and featured a set from The Laylanas. The climax came when guitar hero Gary Moore (who’s rumoured to be looking for a pad in Seaford) joined The Perils on stage for a special guest spot. The evening raised £3000 pounds for Action Against Hunger.

Lennox is Lenon

When we saw actor Dean Lennox Kelly at Brighton Station rocking a lovely new quiff, we wondered whether a new casting could have something to do with it.

It turns out Dean, who played neighbour Kev in the original Shameless, Dex in Sorted and Dickie on Married Single Other, is currently filming a motion capture remake of Yellow Submarine in which he plays none other than John Lennon – that would explain it!

The Beatles classic (in which the band are asked to help a cartoon land that has been taken over by the Blue Meanies) is being remade by Disney and directed by Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump and the Back To The Future films). Nice one Dean!

SPOTTED!

Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Queen’s Road Brighton surrounded by security and well wishers, following his generally acknowledged defeat in the televised debate the previous night.

Caustic Scottish comedian and star of BBC’s Mock The Week, Frankie Boyle, signing autographs at Brighton Dome’s stage door before his stand up show. Not so misanthropic really!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
