» Celebcity: Courtney loves Hove

Rock goddess scouts for a house, Nick Cave is a good Samaritan, and Katie and Peter finally divorce

If you thought Hove already had its fill of iconic musicians, think again – it looks like a bona fide rock goddess might now be queuing at the Town Tall to obtain a parking permit.

441-celebcity-courtney-loveAccording to her Twitter post, singer, actress and general legend Courtney Love might be making Hove one of her (several) homes. The former wife of the late Kurt Cobain, has spotted a local property she likes, posting “OOOH, I love Hove, I love Sussex, this house is too fantastical and I can’t take my eyes of it.“

Courtney, who had one daughter, Frances Bean, by Cobain, won’t be short of friends if she does make the move, especially after an infamous but brief affair with comic Steve Coogan, who also has offices and a house in the city.

441-celebcity-steve-cooganCourtney met Steve while filming Night At The Museum in Los Angeles alongside fellow actor Owen Wilson. Some wild nights of partying led to their encounter as well as – according to press reports at the time – the drug abuse of actor Owen Wilson.

Also popping by for a cup of sugar could be Hove-based music writer and long-time friend of Kurt and Courtney, Everett True. Back in the day, Everett was editor of weekly music mag Melody Maker and the first UK journalist to write about the Seattle phenomenon that was Nirvana. Everett fast became bezzie mates with the band and, of course, Courtney, as Nirvana quickly became one of the biggest bands in the world. Celebcity will keep a close eye on this story!

Own a piece of Nick Cave’s wardrobe
441-celebcity-nick-caveTalking of Hove residents, Nick Cave may be prized for his skills as a songwriter, screenwriter and novelist, but in recent years he’s been almost as admired for his taste in tailoring.

Snazzy, skin-tight three-pieces are the order of the day on stage when he performs with his band The Bad Seeds. And now you could own your very own slice of the Cave wardrobe.

Last Thursday saw the opening of Brighton and Hove’s Samaritans boutique in George Street to mark World Suicide Prevention Day. But it’s no ordinary charity shop. Among the rails you’ll find four tailored suits and one jacket donated by the singer himself. Other local celebrities who’ve come up with the goods include actor Steven Berkoff, while celebrity cook, broadcaster and author (of a whopping 170 cookbooks) Marguerite Patten has donated a signed copy of her last cookbook. Shop manager Sarah Cutting says the money raised will go to help fund a centre in Hove. Get in there quick at the Samaritans Boutique, 70 George Street, Hove, 01273 711254.

Katie and Peter’s quickie in court
So after a bitter four months of public media squabbling, the UK’s most talked about celeb couple are finally divorced. Katie Price and Peter Andre made their split official last Tuesday, without a fight or cross word in sight, in a hearing that took only 42 seconds. With the financials and custody of both kids already sorted, the quickie divorce was granted without a hitch. Sad really!

Spotted!

of Strictly Come Dancing) queuing in M&S at Brighton Station – attack of the munchies, Nat?
