McFly cause North Road road block, The Boss Is Coming To Dinner in Brighton, plus team Price-Perez

A Mcflying Visit

Popstars McFly caused a right old rumpus in Brighton last Tuesday, as they made a live appearance on Brighton radio station Juice 107.2 FM. Shoppers had to squeeze past screaming Mcfans as Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry from the popular boy band zipped into the North Road studio for an interview with Guy and Andrea from the Breakfast Show.

The band, who have been together for seven years, are on a regional radio tour to promote their new single ‘Party Girl’, the first from their new album. They told Guy and Latest 7 Sport columnist Andrea about touring in South America, meeting Elton John whilst making their album, and wearing their girlfriends jeans!

Some fans were seen clutching the current issue of Attitude magazine, where the boys posed with their tops off for the cover. The band duly signed their own chests and spent over 20 minutes chatting to fans whilst signing and having photos taken – ahhh.

I grabbed a word with Guy and Andrea after the band left and they said “The crowds were bigger than when Alexandra Burke came in!”

McFly fans can hear the interview on the Breakfast Show soon – tune in 7-11am Monday to Friday.

TV dinners and vegan shoes for Dragons…

Brighton folk seemed to be all over the telly last week. Firstly Julie Williams, owner of the Lanes Health and Beauty Salon, was the subject of the first edition of Channel 5’s new flagship show, The Boss Is Coming To Dinner.

Julie featured on the show for five nights in her quest to find the perfect member of staff. The show, however, had a twist as each interviewee had to cook Julie dinner at their home! It was a sort of cross between The Apprentice and Come Dine With Me.

Also on screen was on-line vegan shoe boutique owner Claire Childs, who braved the Dragon’s Den looking for investment for her business, Neon Collective. Claire didn’t get the money but did gain some good advice and even Deborah Meedan tried on a pair of her gorgeous shoes! Check them out at www.neoncollective.com.

Quirkey Classes

Pauline Quirke is launching a performing arts academy in Brighton! The Birds Of A Feather Star is to be a regular visitor at the school, which opens at the Southwick Centre on 12 September with a free taster day. Surely the only place where you can take a specialist class in physical comedy, though lessons in the Essex accent don’t seem to be on the syllabus just yet.

Katie Gets Twitter Training From Perez

Celebrity tweet of the week has to go to Katie Price for her knowledge of celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton – I am sure he would be proud! It read: ‘Perez iton set up my twitter up for! I wouldn’t know how to set one up lolim rubbish with computers!xxx’

Spotted!

Note to Samuel Preston – your shorts are very short!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
