» Comedy highlight: Wisecrackers

It’s a new year and this time the Sallis Benney Theatre has brought together a whole bunch of fantastic comics to hep fight off those January blues. Fresh-ish from the jungle is Russell Kane, who’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Now! commentary and hi-jinks had us rightly entertained. Of course they did! What else would we expect from a thrice if.comedy-nominated comedian? His highly educated Essex boy comedy is both thought-provoking and great fun.
Joining Russell is Reginald D Hunter, twice nominated as Best Headliner in the industry Chortle awards. His deep South Georgian drawl is entrancing, his honeyed tones nicely complementing his American alien in the UK material. He also has a philosopher’s edge to his material, along with Kane’s, as they both consider the meaning of life and laughs and the adventures they have had exploring both.
Compering this delightful show is the much-loved Lucy Porter, a regular feature of the Edinburgh festival and comedy festivals around the country with stand-up shows that frequently sell out. She’s also well known as a panelist on TV and radio shows – as are the other two – making this a primo line-up.
So chuck your blues out the door and skip up to the University of Brighton campus and in to the Sallis Benney Theatre. We’d advise booking online as there aren’t too many ticket to this lovely night left.
