Prepare yourself for looking preppy in a range of classic and contemporary designs from David Clulow Opticians

Miss Jones pushed aside the library books, lifted herself onto the desk, tied back her hair and put on her spectacles. ‘‘But Miss Jones, you’re beautiful….’’ Oh yes, we know it’s a slightly less conventional version of the story but with frames as smart and sexy as these, no one will want to look less than bookish.

At David Clulow Opticians, they are bang on trend with the current season’s styles. And with fashion designer Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man, riding high, the look is clean-lined, super cool and sexily academic. It’s apparent in all the ranges – a simplicity of design but with those ever so subtle twists, a witty detail or a discreet layering of colour. Black is back too with strong statements in tortoiseshell and in matt finished metal.

What’s most striking is the move away from the more obvious bling of previous seasons; even the branding and logos are more discreet.
David Clulow offers excellence in all levels of eye care using the very best techniques and technology. They also specialise in contact lenses for those of us who are tired of wearing specs. But with a look as sexy as this, who is going to want to hide the fact that they wear glasses?

David Clulow has access to the hottest design trends from all the top designers working in the field. And being part of a large company means they are able to change their ranges frequently.
A hot design does not necessarily mean you will get your fingers burnt when it comes to price either. The look is available at all price ranges and it’s not quickly obvious which are the more expensive; some of the frames pictured here are priced at around £100.
As well as offering this fabulous range of optical frames, David Clulow has a stunning range of sunglasses. It may seem too early to be thinking about the sun, but when you see the stunning Tom Ford Aviators or the super-slick black Mykitas, you will be easily tempted. Or it could be a classic shaped pair of Ray Bans in a vibrant colour that catches your eye. And when you have booked that break in the sun, you will be wishing you had invested in a pair of sensational shades earlier.

Current offers at David Clulow: £35 off a complete pair of glasses, and buy two pairs of sunglasses and receive 25 per cent off the cheapest pair.

David Clulow, 25 East Street, Brighton, Sussex, BN1 1HL, open Monday to Saturday 9.30am–6pm, Sunday 11am–5pm, 01273 737578, www.davidclulow.com

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
