Crazy Heart(15)

Dir: Scott Cooper
Hailed as Jeff Bridges’ best performance since his seminal ‘Dude’ in The Big Lebowski, and earning him a nomination for Best Actor Oscar – this tale of a beaten up, hard living country singer is already creating a bit of a stir. Bridges stars as Brad, who has spent too many years on the road and too few detoxing. Having gone through an excess of towns, drinks and marriages, Brad finally meets his possible redemption in the form of journalist Maggie Gyllenhaal, who sees the man behind the musician. With such a great supporting cast, including Colin Farrell apparently turning in a fair tune as a fellow muso, along with James Keane and Rich Dial, and Ms G getting her own Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress, this is set to be a classic.

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
