» Film Highlight: The Last Airbender 3D & 2D (PG)

Dir: M. Night Shyamalan

Just a bit epic. Just a tad special effect-y. Just a smidge ‘whoa!’. This massive story tells of a world where the elements of air, water, fire and earth can be controlled by magic, and where a hundred year war has waged since the Fire Nation declared an attack on its neighbours. Oh yes, and one small boy, a mystical Avatar, can bring about peace. No pressure, then. 12-year-old Aang (Noah Ringer) is the last airbender – able to manipulate the air currents around us – plus he’s the Avatar, which means he’s the living embodiment of the planet. Accompanied by young warrior Sokka (Jackson Rathbone) and his waterbender sister (Nicola Peltz) they try and save the world while evading the dastardly clutches of disgraced Prince Zuko (Dev Patel). It may not surprise you that this is based upon a hugely successful animated series and is the first in a trilogy.

Showing at Odeon and Cineworld

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
