» Jeremy Hoye: Endless love

Whether you’re proposing marriage or affirming your love, Jeremy Hoye has the ring for you

Where have all the Romeos gone? Hiding out in Brighton and Hove of course waiting to spring into action for Valentine’s Day. After the cold and gloomy start to 2009, we could all do with some cheer – Jeremy Hoye’s shop and online store is just the place.

Seeing the seasonal influx of enquiries into their fabulous range of engagement rings, they have seen Tulip (pictured) be a roaring success since its introduction; its feminine simplicity makes it compliment any lucky girlfriend’s hand. Set with round white, black, pink or blue diamonds, or any other precious stone such as sapphire, rubies or even emeralds. Prices range from £815 to £7,500. Customers looking a more unusual ring have been choosing the Triffid, which is bold with its organic shapes and pave-set diamonds – giving the look of crystals hidden within. Prices start from £365 in 18ct gold and from £575 in platinum.

Buying an engagement ring can become a mind-boggling experience, but it is the ultimate Valentine’s surprise. So to make life easier and more enjoyable, we asked Brighton’s most established designer jeweller Jeremy Hoye for his advice on making that all important purchase. His advice is: 1. Decide on a budget you can afford. 2. Think about what your partner wears 3. Do they have large or small hands? 4. What do they do work-wise, will it intrude ?

If choosing a diamond, choose one you are visually happy with. Does it look clean and bright? Be led by the shop staff they are the specialists. Most of all, enjoy!

During the last 15 years Jeremy Hoye has been established in Brighton, (Yes, 15 years this year!) he has been selling Valentine’s gifts to men and women, gay or straight, and can advise you on the suitability of your purchase. Jeremy Hoye classics include: the Entwine locket (pictured) available in two sizes, medium and large. Perfect for symbolic gift that can be personalised with engraving, prices start from £195 in silver and £2,215 in 18ct yellow gold.

Launched just before Christmas, Deco has been extremely popular, the bright semi-precious beads just draw your attention. The Pink Rubies are perfect for Valentines. Prices start from £55.

The jewellery world has only recently caught onto the fact that men are wearing jewellery. This is nothing new for Jeremy, as he has always designed for men, for the very reason being one himself! With specific ranges such as Luna and Trinity and new ranges such as Cloud with heavier rings and bangles.

The new exclusive for Valentine’s is the Triffid Heart from the Triffid collection: a silver heart with a pave-set seam of stones shining out, in the inevitable Hoye style – it is set to be a classic. This exclusive piece is going to be the must-have piece this Valentine’s and will be exclusively previewed through the Jeremy Hoye newsletter, closer to Valentine’s so sign up via his website and be the first to see.

2009 has already seen Jeremy Hoye voted ‘Shop of the Week‘ in The Times and seen celebrities including Alesha Dixon choosing to wear his jewellery for her tour and Lisa Snowden for her up coming TV show. Spring will see the launch of the much-awaited Wedding and Solitaire collections.
So keep watching!

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
