JourneyOn for one-stop travel information

JourneyOn

Children from West Hove Junior School taking part in the launch of the new look JourneyOn website

Check out the JourneyOn website (www.journeyon.co.uk) for everything you need to know about travel in Brighton and Hove.

The website was launched by Brighton and Hove City Council last year and has evolved to become the city’s ‘one-stop shop’ for travel advice and information.

“The site calculates the potential environmental impact of your journey”

Now with real time bus, roadwork and traffic information, the JourneyOn site is packed with even more travel advice and a new look, providing everything you need in order to plan your journey around the city.

Local schoolchildren and cyclists joined in the celebrations to relaunch the website earlier this month.

Travelling by bus and bike, they helped to carry a giant pencil on an eleven mile route around the city, spelling out the words “Journey On”. They were tracked by a GPO satellite device which marked the route of the giant doodle on a city map. (See the doodle online at www.journeyon.co.uk/doodle).

Simple to use, JourneyOn helps you save time, money and improves your fitness by giving you information about how to travel around Brighton and Hove. The site works out your route across the city and tells you the cost, time and the number of calories you’d burn whether you walk, cycle, take the bus or go by car. It also calculates the potential environmental impact of your journey in terms of carbon emissions.

Environment Councillor Geoffrey Theobald said: “We are very excited about our innovative new look JourneyOn website which provides a wealth of practical information for people who work in, visit and live in Brighton and Hove on how to travel around the city.

“By gathering and collating information from teams across the council, from parking and roadworks, to healthwalks and cycling, and by working in partnership with Brighton and Hove Bus Company and Southern Rail, we have produced a website which is truly a one-stop travel shop for the city which I am confident will become a national example of best practice.”

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
