Kylie unveils her new range of bed linens – Celebcity with Jo Brooks
Pint-sized songstress Kylie Minogue has added yet another string to her bow. Singer, actress, author, perfumier and now linen designer. Yes, that’s right, you can now sleep under Kylie’s duvet and lay your head on her pillow – well, pillowcase!

Kylie’s chose none other than our very own Bond Street boutique of loveliness, Velvet, to provide the beds to launch her brand new ‘At Home’ range. The event took place a couple of weeks ago in Ladbroke Hall in the Smoke. Kylie duly perched on the end of one of the beds and flashed that amazing smile. Menna Pritchard, PR of Velvet said: “Velvet were absolutely delighted that we were chosen above hundreds of other national companies to supply the beds for the Kylie press launch and photoshoot.
“The actual bed is still in our Bond Street shop, if customers would like to come and look at it. All the beds are available to buy online if you would like a bit of Kylie glamour.” Check out the beds at www.velvetstore.co.uk.
Big Smoke Boutique
Last week I was very busy promoting Brighton’s favourite king of spin, Fatboy Slim, and announcing his headline London gig as part of the O2 Wireless Festival in Hyde Park this July.

At 12.30 Norman was precariously balanced (sorry Zoe!) on the rooftop of the fabulous Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge – which had been hand-selected due to its perfect view of the exact spot in Hyde Park where Fatboy will be performing. From there he faced a press conference full of the UK’s coolest music press and announced his intention to put on the best outdoor beach party (without beach!) that London has ever seen.
Ever the champion of Brighton and Hove, Norman gave the biggest shout-out of the day to Bond Street tailor Gresham Blake, whose gorgeous Hawaiian shirt he was sporting. Roll on the summer!
Who’s there?
Brighton-based actor Dan Ryan, currently on our screens in Messiah, has had one of his wishes granted. He has got a one-off role in none other than Dr Who – check this column for when he will be seen onscreen.
Barrowman book signing
Still on the subject of Dr Who, actor John Barrowman – Captain Jack from spin-off series Torchwood – was seen at several locations. No, he was not fighting evil aliens in The Lanes but signing copies of his latest book. When asked if he liked our fair city, he replied: “I love it here; you can always get a good massage.”
