Katie Price shows off her equestrian skills at Hickstead, the home of dressage. It’s Celebcity with Jo Brooks

Katie PriceEveryone’s favourite gorgeous local superstar, Katie Price has showcased yet another of her talents by competing successfully at the home of dressage, Hickstead in West Sussex. Last week Katie made her competitive dressage debut on her horse Glamour Girl, which bought for her as a 30th birthday present by husband Peter André.

Dressed demurely in traditional dressage gear, Katie came a very respectable sixth in a field of 23 entrants – commanding respect for her riding skills from the sport’s cognoscenti. Ms Price has been training under Olympic horseman Andrew Gould at his stable Priory Dressage in Sussex, which is also where her two beautiful horses are stabled. I for one would love to see Katie performing for Great Britain in the 2012 Olympics and bringing a bit of gloss and glamour to proceedings.

Ever the canny businesswoman, Katie has combined her passion for clothes and horses and will be launching a brand new range of clothing for fellow horse enthusiasts later this year. Due to be unveiled in September this year, KP Equestrian will (not surprisingly) include plenty of pink and lots of glitter and will be created by Katie in collaboration with leading high-street designers. More dressy than dressage?

Ms Price was spotted this week leaving her favourite Brighton haunt, The Lanes Health and Beauty laden down with bags and bags of shopping from cult US brand American Apparel. Not an obvious choice for Katie, can we expect to see her rocking lame leggings and headbands on the pages of OK! Magazine soon? Meanwhile hubby Pete was quoted this week saying that if he could be invisible of the day, he’d choose to follow his missus to the Market Street salon and find out exactly what happens when she’s in there!

Good Evans!

Chris EvansDJ Chris Evans has joined the mass influx of people choosing to live life by the sea in Sussex. The BBC Radio 2 presenter, has packed up his belongings and left his Grade ll Listed home in Godalming, Surrey where he was living with his gorgeous new wife, golfer Natasha Shishmanian and moved to Shoreham-by-Sea.

The ginger one is currently living in a caravan while his new house is being built on land he has bought on Shoreham beach. Apparently his newfound mobile-home lifestyle is impeding his sartorial splendour as the poor man claims only to have access to three shirts in his limited onboard wardrobe.

Hirst among equals

And his problems don’t end there, because during the move, Chris reportedly lost a valuable Damien Hirst dot painting print after it was accidentally delivered to a charity shop in Godalming. It seems that the artwork was mistakenly consigned to a pile of belongings that Chris had decided not to take to his new seaside home.

Instead, being the charitable man he is, these possessions were to be distributed between a number of goodwill shops in the Godalming area. His driver (who is clearly not a fan of Hirst’s work!) then delivered the goods to the lucky shops. Evans announced the mistake live on his Radio 2 show and created a gold rush of Wild West proportions to the town’s eight charity outlets.

Spot a bargain

Last year, a similar artwork by the eminently collectable YBA sold at auction for £240,000 – so some lucky Godalming bargain hunter is in the money! As we went to press, the print, which was signed by Damien Hirst, has not surfaced. At least Chris can afford to replace it!

Cyndi in the Basement

Spotted in the fashionable North Laine boutique Covet last week was Basement Jaxx collaborator Elliot May. The dance music producers have just announced a brand-new collaboration with pop icon Cyndi Lauper on her forthcoming album Bring Ya To The Brink. Says Cyndi: “Those Basement Jaxx guys are totally great and totally out of their minds.” Well, you’d know, Cyndi!
