» Review: Alice Russell

It’s live on stage where the personality and natural funkiness of this Brighton resident and burgeoning soul diva shines through. Made up of well known Brighton musicians, her group’s easy going demeanour belied an almost supernatural tightness and well-thought out stage show that had the crowd engrossed, whether dancing or not. This was good-time music – not too demanding, but utterly amenable – that included a cover of ‘Crazy’. Only the slightly weak sound system let them down, but all-in-all this was a superlative performance from ‘Little Poppet’.
