» Review: Ana Silvera
Gorgeous female singer songwriters are ten a penny. David Attenborough isn’t going to be making a documentary about their imminent extinction anytime soon; you need to be exceptional to stand out from the crowd. Ana Silvera is one such artist. Her songs (backed by piano and cello with occasional use of acoustic guitar) were wonderfully engaging. The lyrics – the Achilles heel of so many songwriters – avoided the usual trite sixth form sentiments and possessed real bite. Her voice was sublime: strong, sweet and infused with genuine emotion. Ana Silvera: remember the name and be sure to catch her asap.
