» Review of the week: Comic Boom
A cracking way to come back from the Christmas dulling excess was the sharp and energetic line-up introduced by new Boom compere Seann Walsh. Walsh was firing on all cylinders, building up the acts as ‘lovely friends‘, setting us to embrace them and still delivering bang-on material of his own. The entire line-up of seven acts brought a variety of excellent ways to tickle the funnybone, from Kerry Herbert’s acidic slap of a giggle to Brian Gittens’ anarchic hysteria. Headliner Zoe Lyons demonstrated just why she received Best Joke Of Edinburgh Festival last year, as well as an if.comedy Best Newcomer nominee the year before. Not a comedy-blank fired an an encore demanded was testament to the success of the evening. More please!
