» Review of the week: Dinosaur Jr

Touring with their original line-up, J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph, Dinosaur Jr took us back to the late ‘80s and the birth of grunge. Beautifully, ear-bleedingly loud, the band transported the largely 30-something audience to the genesis of the sound that influenced Nirvana amongst others. Despite the intervening years, Dinosaur Jr did not disappoint, and Mascis’ unique droning vocals were a delight to hear again. They played a good selection of old stuff and some great new tracks, from current album Farm, that show how consistent – yet still fresh and exciting – their sound is.
