» Review of the week: The Kooks
What a journey it’s been for the Brighton four-piece led by the charismatic Luke Pritchard, a pin-up boy for the noughties. But he and the band are more than that; the songwriting of Pritchard and lead guitarist Hugh Harris is of the highest standard; their classic pop song structures seemingly effortless; and despite working within the constraints of an orthodox four-piece line-up, it’s amazing how diverse the songs are, but which gel into a satisfying whole, cemented by memorable melodies and lyrics. The Kooks are no fluke.
