» Review of the week: The Lovely Brothers
The Lovely Brothers (including one female) are two guitarists, a keyboard player, and drummer who are partial to nurses’ uniforms, balaclavas and masks. Oh, and a lead singer who looks like he’s stepped out of a music hall.
Think satire, think melody and you’re on the right lines of what The Lovely Brothers are all about. Why can’t politics be humorous and jolly, eh? Dinky ditties of ‘What’s on TV Tonight?’ with sing-along choruses prove why this memorable bunch have gained a cult following.
Art rock at its rawest? Pantomime-pop? Cabaret-punk? Forget the labels and just enjoy the ride.
