» Review: Thriller Live
Once again, all the collected talent on stage could not rescue this misguided apology of a show. Undoubtedly Michael Jackson and his bros were responsible for some of the greatest pop music of the last 40 years, and hearing the songs again was in a way good. Sadly the form of this ’entertainment’ was flimsy – neither tribute, drama or documentary, it fell well short of expectations. A ripping band, talented dancers and singers could not raise this above the level of cruise ship entertainment. The staging was dull, choreography repetitive and patchy and some members of the cast just too ’enthusiastic’. All this said, the audience, Jackson fans I assume, lapped it up, standing and dancing. I remained firmly in my seat throughout.
