» Spotlight on inspirational model Thema Davis
Sandra Omo continues her spotlight on the courage and career of Thema Davis
After the touching and shocking tale of model Thema Davis last week, the question is: how is Thema now? Well, she’s back on her feet – as her picture clearly shows – with numerous jobs and magazine interviews and a feature in almost every major magazine. I caught up with her and in a candid interview she tells it plainly, but with emotion that sends the message straight to the heart. To read Thema’s full story, please go to www.themadavis.co.uk.

Omo: How has it been since you came back to life?
Thema: My life has changed. It has been a long journey and I have learned a lot, I see life differently and I live each day like it is my last.
Omo: Be frank, did you ever think you would make it?
Thema: No, I didn’t think that I would make it at all. Everyday I expected to die and I wanted to die because the pain was so so bad.
Omo: Did you also think you were anorexic in the beginning?
Thema: No, never! An anorexic does not want to eat and makes themselves sick. I never did that and everyone who knows me knew that I ate like a pig! I had the country’s top nutritionists fighting in my corner as they knew I was not anorexic and it’s why I’m campaigning, so no one need die out of other people’s ignorance!
Omo: Your story is very inspiring, what do you do to encourage others going through the same situation as you?
Thema: I keep encouraging them and let them know that everything is going to be alright and we can beat this disease.
Omo: How has your career been since you recovered?
Thema: There are many things that I want to do with my career but I take each day as it comes and simply try my hardest. I am the kind of chick who works three times as hard.
Omo: Where are you now in your career, would you say you have gained or lost?
Thema: I am in a new place, a new beginning. I have gained wisdom and maturity. I have lost certain aspects of the industry, but gained elsewhere. Such as, I no longer do fashion shows, but I do many more magazines then I did back then.
Omo: How far would you go for a job?
Thema: I would never sell my soul for a job. If I do not deserve a job then I take it in my stride and move on. Life is too short, although I will admit that I may cry a little if I really wanted the job and didn’t get it but I would never stoop low for a job. I’m much too talented for that. Always up your game, that is the best way to get ahead.
“I have met many stunning models, who were very ugly people. People can be fake and fickle“
Omo: What is the one thing being a model has taught you?
Thema: On the plus side, modelling has taught me to be tough, independent and thick-skinned! Modelling has also taught me beauty comes from the inside, not the outside! I have met many stunning models, who were very ugly people. People can be fake and fickle.
Omo: Any last words or advice for models out there?
Thema: Never listen to the words ‘can’t’ or ‘won’t’ as you can change these. Go for any and everything. Believe in yourself and even if you’re not right for the job, still go for the casting. My ex-agent would not send me for The Clothes Show casting saying they would hate me. I went on my own and got the job as the main model, made thousands of pounds. Be proactive.

My dear Omo,
I really appreciate this piece on this fantastic and gorgeously inspiring lady. I am very happy that the almighty God turned things positively for her after the ordeal that she went through. There are so many other people that have one medical condition out there that needs help so desperately. Her message would surely lift them up and restore hope especially in a situation where there seem to be no help in sight. She is a winner and a proof that tough people do out-do tough times.
She is destined to help others and I only wish her all the very best and hoping that she would have the strength to forge ahead and visit as many people that are broken at the moment.
I am also very thrilled that through your interview at Model City, many of us your admirers would be encouraged to pass on the message that faith in God is all that we need to sustain our hope in the positives. I appreciate her sincerity and confidence. May God renew her strength always and provide her with all that she desires. AMEN!
Thanks for sharing Thema Davis and my warm love and regards to Omo Sandra Idugs. You guys are great at Latest 7 Magazine!
