Latest 7 puts summer’s juiciest fruity products for hair and body to the test

1 Origins Florida Grapefruit & Fresh Peppermint No Deposit Shampoo
£10 from www.origins.co.uk
Subtle and fresh citrus tones lift this great shampoo and will get you compliments for soft and sweet-smelling hair. Plus packaging to complement stylish bathrooms.

2 Estee Lauder Pleasures Exotic Eau De Parfum
£32–63 from larger Boots stores, Debenhams and www.esteelauder.co.uk
When first sprayed, this smells of freshly cut grapefruit, which gradually wears off leaving a fresh summery scent which isn’t too sweet or overpowering, although by mid afternoon another spritz was needed.

3 The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner
£3.99 from The Body Shop stores nationwide and www.thebodyshop.co.uk
Very much the smell, colour and consistency of mulched bananas, but this duo left my hair squeaky clean and feeling summer fruity.

4 Lush Happy Hippy Mellow Yellow Hair & Body Gel With Freshly Squeezed Grapefruits
£2.80, from Lush stores nationwide, www.lush.co.uk
A great, refreshing multi-purpose product zinging with fresh grapefruit notes. Light, refreshing and brilliant for holidays.

5 Candy Addicted Grapefruit Tutti Colour Enhancing Shampoo
£3.83 from www.candyaddicted.co.uk
Fun, bright, and it smells absolutely delicious! This left my hair cleansed and my highlights bright. The only ‘downside’ was the product was slow to dispense from the bottle (so we don’t guzzle it down as a drink by mistake?!). Tutti-fruity heaven.

6 Tisserand Vitamin Rich body lotion
£8.75, from Waitrose stores nationwide and www.tisserand.com
Sweet orange, jasmine and mango butter make this rich body butter gorgeously moisturising. The pump-action is practical and easy to use and the citrus-floral scent is divine.

7 Estee Lauder Pleasures Intense Body Lotion
£30 from larger Boots stores, Debenhams and www.esteelauder.co.uk
This non-greasy lotion is light and easily absorbed leaving the skin silky soft. The gentle perfume added a lasting fragrance that wasn’t overpowering.

8 Tisserand Refreshing Pure Vegetable Soap
£3.70 from Waitrose stores nationwide and www.tisserand.com
Soft, nourishing and subtly citrus, this creamy, moisturising and invigorating organic soap is packed with ethically-harvested oils.

9 Organic Surge Peach Passion Shower Gel
£3.99 from Waitrose stores nationwide and www.organicsurge.com
This lathered up really well and left my skin feeling extremely soft, and I only needed a small amount making it great value. Unfortunately there was a lack of peach scent, so it wasn’t as ‘passionate’ as hoped.

10 EO Citrus Fusion Purifying Shower Gel
£12.99 from www.eoproducts.com
A fusion of grapefruit and pineapple extracts with lemon, mandarin and orange essential oils. A brilliant ‘wake up’ shower gel with a zingy minty edge. Low on lather but high on natural citrus fragrance, and in a discrete, bathroom blue easy-to-use dispenser.

11 Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Mist
£18 from www.origins.co.uk
A quick spritz should wake you up in the morning, with a sharp citric aroma avoiding that overly sweet pitfall many fruit scents fall into.

12 The Body Shop Born Lippy Satsuma Lip Balm
£2 from The Body Shop stores nationwide and www.thebodyshop.co.uk
If you like your lip care fruity then this sweet-smelling lip quencher is a winner. Moisturises with a touch of gloss and a hint of a shimmer.

13 Lush Summer Pudding Soap
£2.95, from Lush stores nationwide, www.lush.co.uk
Glace cherries and ground almonds give this soap the authentic look of a summer pudding: a strange concept, but full marks for effort. This didn’t lather as I would like, and I was unsure of the smell of the product as a solid block of soap, but the gentle fragrance it left on the skin was delicate and pleasant.

Also try: Anatomicals Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On Grapefruit And Mandarin Hand Soap, £3.25, www.anatomicals.net. Naturals Mango & Papaya Bath Essence, £2.39, Superdrug. Original Source Pure Lime Shower Gel, £2.05, www.originalsource.co.uk

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
