» Sundown Show Bar cancelled

A new Brighton Festival Fringe venue has had to pull out at the eleventh hour because of unexpected costs.
The Sundown Show Bar was to be located next to St Peter’s Church, where the Parlure Spiegeltent was last year. Put on by the people behind Beachdown Festival, the Sundown was to showcase many of the acts seen at Beachdown’s cabaret tent last year. In a statement, Beachdown said: “Due to unexpected costs as well as unforeseen circumstances imposed on The Sundown Show Bar site, we have regrettably had to cancel all events scheduled for the Brighton Fringe Festival. This does not affect the running of Beachdown Festival in August later this year.”
All tickets bought for Sundown shows through the fringe website or Dome box office will be automatically refunded and ticket buyers will be contacted.
Nick Stockman, Fringe executive manager, said: “We have put in a lot of work nurturing the St Peter‘s site and I’m sure it can be used as a Fringe site again. We‘ll do our best to ensure there is something at St Peter‘s again next year.“
Two events have found new homes – David Devant and his Spirit Wife will move to St Andrews Church, Hove and Voodoo Vaudeville will run every Saturday during the Fringe at Upstairs at Three and Ten.

» Brighton Lights 31

Our new programme for thelatest.tv sees Juice FM presenter Guy Lloyd investigate all manner of things. He starts off with chart-topping band The Hoosiers who were mega-successful a couple of years ago, were dropped by their major label and have become fashionably independent. Their chart-topping album cost £1 million to record, their new album £100 and we reckon it's just as good. We have exclusive footage of this new record. Guy does crazy-golfing with them, checks out their sound-check and witnesses the fans' adoration of the band at Audio in Brighton. In future shows Guy will be doing waxing, Dot Cotton, air guitar and needs your suggestions for more crazy things (or people) to do. Send to bill@thelatest.co.uk
