» The Penny Dreadfuls

A show in the rough preparing for its Edinburgh premiere has no right to be this entertaining. This award-winning sketch group moved into the single linear story format last year successfully, and this year have stepped into the 21st century after previously being known for their Victorian settings. Favourite old themes are there, like global conspiracies, physical comedy and a plethora of characters to be played by the three performers, most notable of these being the comedic 8 3/4 year-old boy Paul as played by 6′ 6″ Humphrey Ker. The boys are on terrific form, delivering an excellent show and promise of fantastic heights at Edinburgh.
