Father Christmas and his elf have moved into one of Brighton’s grandest residences – the Royal Pavilion. Families can enjoy a genuine Victorian Christmas at the pavilion this year, with a chance to meet Victorian revellers and the cook in costume.
There will also be a magic lantern show, a range of historical slides depicting Victorian Sussex and visitors can watch the Royal household preparing for Christmas in the Great Kitchen, where the cook will create a festive fare fit for a queen.
In the ornate Music Room, guests will be able to listen to a series of traditional Victorian prose and poetry readings, including festive family favourites ‘A Christmas Carol,’ ‘The Miseltoe Boug’h
and ‘T’Was The Night Before Christmas.’
Victorian Christmas at the Royal Pavilion, 20–23 December. Admission £8.30 adult, £5 child, £6.40 over 60s, unemployed, NUS. Brighton and Hove residents pay only £4.15 with up to four children free. Visits to Santa are £3 per child including a Victorian style toy. He will be in the Red Drawing Room on Sat, Mon and Tues 20, 22 and 23 December from 12–4pm and on Sun 21 December from 10am–2pm.
